Adult Scoliosis

Adult scoliosis refers to an abnormal curvature of the spine that develops or persists into adulthood. It may result from progression of adolescent scoliosis or develop due to degenerative changes in the spine.

Symptoms

Patients may experience back pain, stiffness, leg pain from nerve compression, or a visible spinal deformity. In severe cases, balance issues or breathing difficulty can occur.

Clinical evaluation includes posture analysis, neurological examination, and assessment of flexibility. Imaging such as standing X-rays, MRI, or CT scans help determine curve severity and identify structural or degenerative changes.
