Osteoporotic Spinal fractures assessment and management

Osteoporotic Spinal Fractures

Osteoporotic spinal fractures are compression fractures of the vertebrae that occur due to weakened bone structure, most commonly in elderly individuals with osteoporosis. These fractures can occur with minimal trauma or even during routine activities such as bending or lifting.

Patients may present with sudden onset back pain, loss of height, postural changes (like kyphosis), and reduced mobility. In some cases, fractures may be asymptomatic and discovered incidentally on imaging.
