SI joint Pain assessment and management

SI joint pain originates from dysfunction or inflammation in the sacroiliac joints, which connect the spine to the pelvis. It can mimic lower back, hip, or even sciatica-like pain, making accurate diagnosis essential.

Symptoms

Patients often report deep, aching pain in the lower back, buttock, or groin, sometimes radiating to the thigh. Pain is typically aggravated by prolonged sitting, standing, or transitions like getting out of a car or climbing stairs.

If non-operative treatment fails, minimally invasive SI joint fusion may be considered. This procedure involves placing implants across the SI joint to limit movement and provide long-term pain relief.
